Yeah.. the quality is so bad -- I'm wondering how this is possible, right now at least. They would have to be space invader to get a pic that would be readable. I'm chalking this up to media spin to make people panic.

Last year I renewed my passport in Houston thru usps mail. They took 5 weeks for me. Even if you go in person, they would take 2 days for processing. Check with the consulate.

Applying to a top MBA program is quite intense, especially if you come from a competitive applicant pool. eg: laid off investment banker (plenty of those headed to B-school), Indian-engineer, Chinese-anything, etc. Are you sure you want to go through the effort and expense of the application process if you cannot attend? It takes about 3-4 weeks to put a serious application package together - maybe you can put this time to better use by applying to a program that you can actually attend. That can also be a plan-B in case something goes wrong with the GC application.
Think it through and good luck with your decision. Wish you the Best.

What if my 485 gets approved as soon as my PD becomes current, and before my wife's 485 filed? Will it be fine as along as our married date is before the approval date?

Didn't you know for sure that you were going to stay with employer before asking them to apply GC.
It may be illegal by Law by asking you to give the money back, but where would you put your action of wasting somebody's money?
Not sure the contracting terms between you and your employer, but surely he was not the one forcing you to join the company, its you joined.
If he was ready to help you to get GC, ready to invest atleast 9K on the process, why would you think his money is there just for you to play.
Of course, you have valid points by law, you may escape from the latch now, but make sure this is not an repeating event.

It's just that they are now revisiting/revising their GC policy, and I am trying to make sure that the policy makes sense for both the employer and any future employees. And who knows I may have to agree to this policy in future if I decide to redo my GC application :)

When I voted, It looked like to me that poll is started by IV, but not.
Though I like the idea of Quickness of a separate bill .. I appreciate how many steps / time / lobbying that would be required for such a step , after having followed the Forum for a long time.

I got an account verification letter from HSBC Online Savings Bank. Just go to the Bank Mail section and ask for an AV letter. They will charge you $20 or $25 for it. I got it done last month.

Another interesting thing that happened to me. After I got this extension I went to Canada and got a new visa in my passport and it’s also valid for two more years. If my H1B extension was made by mistake it looks like I committed a fraud asking visa in my passport based on documents that are not valid.
I am so confused now. Can anybody please recommend a good layer who can give me a legal advice, preferably from central PA?

Before you get carried away please note that even in the Specter Bill people filing for status under Title VI have to
(a) Wait for the PDs that are pending when the Act passes to become current.
(b) If the current PDs do not become current in 6 years -- their applications will be "held in abeyance" till the PDs PDs that are pending when the Act passes to become current.
I take the "held in abeyance" to mean that they might get I-485 filing privileges at that point but those applications will not be adjudicated.
So you will not really get your green card after 6 years -- you'll be pending till all current PDs become current. Given that family PDs are still back in 1983 per the April 2006 bulletin, they won't be getting their green cards any time soon.
The parity issue is really that Title VI recognizes that
(1) worldwide and per-country quotas make no sense -- and yet, the immigrants who go through the arduous labor cert process that protects the American worker are subject to per-country quotas.
(2) Workers should be mobile and be able to self-petition -- yet skilled workers going through the labor cert process are tied to employer AND job description for years.

They have 100's of 1000's of cases....thrown in one dark room.
They have this Q on their computers, with cases approved Namecheck, background check, I-140, FP complete....
Now, when they are assigned with a case, they will try to find the file....Just imagine its not easy to find the case, but USCIS doesnt put any effort to sort them either.
So, he will leave that case there, go to next one...This is just my guess...

Why would IRS care how you perform your full time job. IRS's responsibilty is to collect taxes on our earnings, and it doesnt matter you trade 100 or 1000 stocks per day as long as you file schedule D.

2. how long does it take to get approved for LCA? (if the company does everything correctly?)
3. once LCA arrives, then the company just needs to fill the required H1B forms and send them to USCIS, right? approximately how much time is required for those things?
